You are invited by the European Association of Creativity and Innovation to the 9th European Conference which will take place from 4th to 8th of September 2005 in Poland.
Poland is the country which has undergone lots of transformations throughout centuries. It has suffered from many wars and annexations that has changed its structure several times. The Polish nation was under the influence of other cultures, languages and even the way of thinking.
The last transformation in Poland has its roots in the times of World War II, but its full development was achieved by the Polish nation itself in the last 20 years under the leadership of well-known Lech Wałęsa with spiritual support of the Pope. It was only the revolution initiated by the Solidarity movement that resulted in a profound transformation in Poland and East Europe. Finally, Polish people have liberated themselves in the fields of social structure, economics, education and mentality. We have changed from a closed, imprisoned community to an open and autonomous one. We have transformed central-controlled economy functioning in our country under the communist regime to free market. Polish education is no longer subordinated to communist ideology. On the contrary, present curricula are created by autonomous and private units. Our mentality has evolved from limited and captive minds to creative and self-conscious.
The symbol of these transformations in Poland is the place of the Conference - the city of Łódź. Within 60 years, it was built from a small village to the metropolis of 600 000 citizens up to World War I. Since World War II, it has come through the period of stagnation in communist times to the present time of economical changes. Once the workers' city, Łódź has become the academic center bustling with business activity. The Academy of Humanities and Economics, where the conference is organized, is the next powerful symbol of all these transformations. It is a spectacular example of a Textile Factory transformed into Knowledge Factory. Without any subsidies, it has evolved from a 150-student school ten years ago to the unit educating 20 000 people at present. The Academy has ten faculties, 2 000 teachers, many well-equipped laboratories and own historical buildings.
This is the place where you are invited to:
